DeLand Suns Announce 2026 Staff
As the DeLand Suns players prepare for the 2026 season, a team of coaches and interns have been working hard behind the scenes to put a great team on the field and prepare a great atmosphere for fans at Conrad Park this season.
Head Coach: Stephen Piercefield
Stephen Piercefield is back with the FCSL league this season as the Head Coach of the DeLand Suns. Piercefield previously led the 2008 Clermont Mavericks and the 2011 Sanford River Rats to FCSL championships and hopes to continue his success with the Suns this season. Piercefield played collegiate baseball at Florida Southern College where he was a member of the 2005 national championship Team. Piercefield has served as a coach for many baseball programs across both the high school and collegiate levels. When not coaching in the FCSL, Piercefield serves as the Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Lake Mary Prep in Lake Mary,
Florida.
Assistant Coach: Mike Powers
Mike Powers will continue his over decade long tenure with the DeLand Suns as an assistant coach. Powers has served as the head coach, pitching coach, as well as an assistant across his years with the Suns. After a playing career that included collegiate stops at both Stetson and Kentucky Wesleyan, as well as spending 3 seasons between the Athletics and Expos organizations in the minor leagues, Powers transitioned into coaching. Powers previous coaching experiences include 27 years spent as the head man at Seminole High School where he won a state championship and coached future big league players including 2006 World Series MVP David Eckstein.
Assistant Coach: Carson Walden
Carson Walden enters his fourth season as a member of the Suns coaching staff. Across his time with DeLand, Walden has served as both first base coach and bullpen coach. When not coaching in the FCSL, Walden serves on the coaching staff at Seminole HS in Sanford, Florida.
Interns:
General Manager: Reagan Orr
Reagan Orr is a Florida Southern College alumna (2024) where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in Sport Business Management and Psychology. Reagan went on to complete her Master of Science in Sport Management at Texas Tech University in Spring 2026. Reagan brings a wide range of hands-on sports experience to the FCSL, including three seasons as Lead Student Assistant for Florida Southern Men's Basketball through two NCAA postseason runs, a National Operations Internship with the NFL Alumni Association, and a summer as Athletic Director at Camp Lindenmere overseeing athletic programming for 450 campers. Reagan was drawn to the FCSL out of a genuine love for baseball and a desire to grow within a program she believes in. She is excited to bring her energy, versatility, and people-first approach to the league.
Team Operations: John Lohse
John Lohse is currently a senior at the University of Central Florida studying Integrated Business who is expected to graduate in Spring 2027. At UCF, John has been involved in leadership and organizational roles as one of the founders of his fraternity chapter. Through that experience, John developed skills in teamwork, communication, and organization. John wanted to do this internship because he has a strong passion for sports and wanted to gain experience learning the business side of the industry. The opportunity to work in baseball and see how operations are handled behind the scenes is something John is really excited about, and he is looking forward to growing professionally throughout the summer.
Team Operations: Gabriella Surun
Gabriella Surun is a Marketing major with a minor in Sports Business at Stetson University, graduating May 2027. Growing up in Volusia County, Gabriella played softball at various levels for nearly a decade, which gave her a deep appreciation for athletics and everything that happens behind the scenes. With a background in customer service and skills in Canva, Adobe, and various certifications; Gabriella is prepared to bring her love for the game and her marketing background together in her own backyard.
Team Operations: Josh Turk
Josh Turk attends the University of Central Florida majoring in Human Communication with a focus in Public Relations and Sports Communication, who is expected to graduate in 2027. Before joining the FCSL, Josh gained experience through leadership roles and involvement in sports and organizational management, including working with sports programs, social media, team operations, and event coordination. Josh has also worked in customer service and leadership positions that helped him build strong communication and teamwork skills. Josh wanted to work for the FCSL because he always had a passion for sports and wanted hands-on experience in the sports industry. The opportunity to work closely with a team and learn more about the operational and business side of baseball was something that really stood out to Josh.
Social Media: Brylee Bublitz
Brylee Bublitz is a Sports Business major with a minor in Communications at Jacksonville University who is graduating in the Spring of 2027. At Jacksonville University, Brylee is actively involved in campus life, serving as station manager for Dolphin Channel Media, a member of the executive board for Order of Omega as Public Relations, and a member of Lambda Pi Eta. Brylee is currently an athletic creative intern at Jacksonville University conducting pre-game and post game interviews with coaches and players of various sports. As the social media intern for the Deland Suns, Brylee looks forward to continuing sideline reporting and increasing engagement on all social media platforms by developing high quality photos, videos, and graphics.
Communications: J.C. Fox
J.C. Fox is a Sports Media major at Mississippi College in the class of 2029. J.C. has broadcasted various sports at the high school and collegiate levels while also covering athletic events at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels. J.C. is excited to bring his skills learned from working in broadcasting, live production, podcasting, social media, and journalism to the FCSL this summer. As the communications intern for the Suns this season, J.C. is excited to have the opportunity to broadcast high-level collegiate summer ball while also sharpening his broadcast and journalism skills.
