New-Look Squeeze Switch Coaches, Maintain Staff
The Winter Garden Squeeze will return to Horizon High School for the summer of 2026, bringing another season filled with sunshine, baseball, and, hopefully, only a few rain delays.
The 2026 campaign will mark the 13th season of Squeeze baseball in Winter Garden and feature the organization's fifth different head coach: Steven Crabtree, the current head coach at Trinity Prep in Winter Park.
Crabtree, a Florida native, attended Navarre High School and played infield during his playing days. After earning his master's degree from Nyack College in New York, he became a graduate assistant, which sparked his coaching career.
From there, Crabtree went on to coach at Webber International in Babson Park, Florida; Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida; and ultimately Florida Southern in Lakeland, Florida. After spending eight years at Florida Southern as the recruiting coordinator, Crabtree developed a strong player-development mindset.
"When a coach sends me a player with specific goals for the summer, my top priority is developing those areas," Crabtree said.
Joining Coach "Crabs" will be former No. 3 overall pick Dewon Brazelton, who was selected in the 2001 MLB Draft. Brazelton starred at Middle Tennessee State before reaching the major leagues in 2002. He played four seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays and San Diego Padres. His experience at both the collegiate and professional levels brings another valuable perspective to the Squeeze coaching staff.
With the Winter Garden Squeeze now having its new coaching staff in place, broadcast and communications duties for the 2026 season will be handled by Zach Moore.
Moore grew up across the street from West Orange High School and played baseball throughout his youth. The Winter Garden Squeeze held a special place in his upbringing, as he regularly attended games and admired the opportunity to one day work within the organization.
That opportunity has now come to fruition, supported in part by general manager Adam Bates.
In high school, Moore was not the most accomplished player on the field but embraced a leadership role within the team. Playing alongside Adam Bates' son, Wrigley, the two pitchers developed a close relationship, often traveling to games together. Through that connection, Moore observed Bates' constant involvement in the community—whether umpiring, volunteering, or supporting local sports as a fan—which left a lasting impression.
That level of community commitment helped inspire Moore's path toward sports media and team involvement.
As this new role begins and a second summer with the Squeeze approaches, Moore will focus on sharing the stories of the players, host families, and community members who help make the organization possible.
The 2026 Winter Garden Squeeze staff also features the return of Danielle Discullo to the social media team and Mickey Murphy to team operations.
Discullo stepped into her role one week before the 2025 season and excelled. Fresh off graduating from West Orange High School, she and Moore were awarded the Sara Whiting Outstanding Young Professional Award, which recognizes the league's top interns each season. She attends the University of Tampa, where she studies accounting and minors in sports management.
"I'm excited for another successful summer of hard work as we continue building on what we created last year," Discullo said.
Murphy joined the staff roughly two weeks into the 2025 season and also excelled. Whether playing walk-up songs, collecting lineup cards, or assisting with on-field activities, he consistently contributed wherever needed. Another West Orange graduate, Murphy attends Valencia College and majors in business.
"Coming back to the Squeeze means a lot," Murphy said. "I'm excited to fulfill my role to the highest degree while having fun with my fellow interns."
Another key part of the organization's integration into the Horizon West community has been assistant general manager Brian Koss. His son, team bat boy George Koss, serves as the Squeeze's in-game host, while the rest of the Koss family continues to contribute wherever needed.
Carmen Aguilera is the only newcomer to the staff this season. Aguilera grew up in the Winter Garden area before moving to Chicago during high school. She later returned to Central Florida, settling in Horizon West. Aguilera currently studies cybersecurity and marketing at the University of Tampa.
