Diamond Dawgs Explode for 15 Runs in Road Win Over Squeeze
WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs put together one of their most complete offensive performances of the season Tuesday night, rolling to a 15-7 victory over the Winter Garden Squeeze. The Dawgs pounded out 15 hits, scored in six different innings, and never trailed after a six-run first inning set the tone.
The offense wasted no time getting started. Winter Park capitalized on early mistakes before Mason Mojica delivered an RBI double, and Daniel Irizarry ripped a three-run double to left field, giving the Dawgs a commanding 6-0 lead in the opening frame.
Irizarry led the charge offensively, finishing with two hits and four RBIs, including a run-scoring triple in the fifth inning. Ethan Zagers was a constant spark at the top of the lineup, scoring four runs while collecting three hits. Jacob Pearl also had a huge night, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Mojica added three hits and two RBIs, while Canyon Marcewicz chipped in a pair of hits and an RBI.
What stood out most was the lineup's ability to answer every challenge. After the Squeeze pulled within 6-4 in the third inning with a three-run home run by Alex Galan, the Dawgs immediately responded with four runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to regain complete control of the game. Winter Park consistently put pressure on the defense with aggressive baserunning, stealing four bases and taking advantage of multiple wild pitches and defensive miscues to continue their aggressive style of play.
The bullpen also played a key role in securing the win. Nick Sakowski earned the victory with two strong innings, allowing just one run while helping stabilize the game after the Squeeze's comeback attempt. Andrew Barr and Daniel Irizarry combined for two scoreless innings late, with Irizarry closing out the ninth inning to seal the victory.
The win showcased everything the Diamond Dawgs want to be: explosive offense, aggressive baserunning, timely hitting, and a bullpen that shut the door when needed. With 15 runs, 15 hits, and contributions throughout the lineup, Winter Park left no doubt in a convincing road victory.
The Diamond Dawgs will be off Wednesday but will play a home game Thursday against the third-place Orlando Snappers at 6 p.m. from Alfond Stadium at Rollins College.
