Why is there a Tryout?
Each season, Florida League coaches recruit the best players they can. Entering the summer season there are typically several roster changes as a result of rostered players making the College World Series, injuries, or other circumstances. As as result, there are temporary, or sometimes full-time roster positions that become available at the last hour. The Florida League hosts a tryout for our coaches to see any players who are still available. The tryout happens the last weekend before the summer season begins.

*Florida League Division II is a separate summer league the Florida League operates that consists of current college baseball players, as well as incoming college freshman. The League plays a 15-20-game schedule plus an end of season tournament. Season runs from June 6 - July 23, with three games played per week. Rosters are small (18-22 players), which allows focus on the player's development. Most Division II games are at 11am.
Eligible college players who participate in Florida League Division II are available to be "called up" at any time, and are invited to the Florida League tryout free of charge. By playing in Division II, participants guarantee themselves a place to play in Central Florida this summer while remaining available to the Florida League teams, should a spot become available.
The cost to participate in 2022 is $749 for a position player or $349 for a pitcher only.
